A Rash, a Restaurant, and a Revelation
Count it ALL joy? Even when the “all” feels like a literal thorn in your side? A single flower held a declaration of courage that quickly made my own “sting” lose its power. The secret to finding steady joy when your circumstances go sideways.

A story that wouldn’t let go
A Story Worth Living is officially available for purchase! This work didn’t begin as a book. It started as a simple idea—a short downloadable resource pulled from one sacred moment in Scripture: the encounter between Jesus and the bleeding woman in Luke 8. But the longer I lingered in her story, the more God revealed. What I expected to be a few lessons slowly became something much deeper. One of my favorite takeaways from her story is Jesus’ refusal to let her slip away quie

Calm in the Storm
We’ve all seen the empty shelves before a big snowfall. But the most vital piece of "storm prep" can’t be found in an aisle—it’s built in the quiet moments before the storm hits. In this article, we’re talking about the calm in the storm and how preparation is not about control, but about trust.

Becoming Viola Davis
One minute I’m reading Viola Davis’ memoir, the next my husband is laughing and snapping this picture because her face has literally replaced mine. But once the giggles stopped, I realized something wild: that’s exactly how the best stories work. They don't just sit on the page; they pull you in until you can’t tell where her courage ends and yours begins. Read more about the holy realization of "becoming" the story—and how that can bring you into a personal experience with J

When Life Feels Like Extra
Psalms 90:12 reminds us to number our days and recognize that life is fragile yet meaningful. This isn’t meant to make us fear time, but to notice it, be grateful, and live intentionally. Numbering our days isn’t about counting how many we have left. It’s about paying attention to the ones we’re living right now, resisting autopilot, and choosing presence over hurry. I turned 52 last week, and this birthday felt more significant to me than turning the big 5-0. My mom was 52 w

Not Done Yet.
Fatigue was setting in when the gym trainer called for a few more reps. “Your mind will stop before your body will!” she cheered. It was like she could hear my internal dialogue begging me to quit, telling me I had nothing left to give. But I put her encouragement to the test and turned my "I'm done" into "Yes, I can". Sure enough, my body's capacity proved my mindset had been limited. How often is this wisdom true in our lives, beyond fitness? How many times do we quit inter

I did everything right... and still missed it
Last week we hosted our small group at our home and I decided to bake a coconut cake from scratch. I’ve been hooked on The Great British Baking Show , so how hard could it be? After researching recipes and making a selection, I went to the store, bought the ingredients, started baking, realized I had the wrong kind of sugar, paused mid-process, went back to the store, started again, and followed the recipe as diligently as I knew how. It was a labor of love. Careful. Intent

Releasing the familiar
I received a new Apple Watch for Christmas this year. It was meant to replace the one I’d been wearing for nearly eight years. My old watch had been giving me warning signs for a while. It wasn’t charging fully, and sometimes it didn’t want to power on. It was clearly nearing the end of its usefulness. And yet, after opening the new one, I kept reaching for the old watch instead. It was familiar. Comfortable. Known. Even though it wasn’t really serving me anymore, it felt ea

Sacred Detours
Over the past few years, I’ve become used to detours. As much as I would prefer a BIG NEON SIGN that clearly marks the road ahead, I’ve been learning to rest in the quiet assurance of God’s gentle guidance. That doesn’t mean it’s always easy.

What matters most
You don’t have to be perfect to be purposeful. Your love is seen. Your effort matters. And your presence is enough. So go ahead and release the regrets. Let grace do what it does best: fill the gaps, cover the cracks, and remind you that love is the legacy that lasts.

Brave enough to begin
Have you ever had the whisper of a dream or an idea that you knew was inside of you? Something that would bring you great joy if you tried it, but seemed so far out of reach and beyond your capabilities that you dismissed it as crazy talk? If you are nodding along, then I know exactly how you feel because I’ve felt that way too.

Somewhere Over the Rainbow
We can learn so much from God’s creation of the rainbow. Even through the sorrows and rains of life, when we can’t see the fullness of God’s glory or comprehend the whole picture from our earthly perspective, we have the hope of that Eternal Light. Sunlit rain reflects God’s rainbow of love infinitely around us.
