Calm in the Storm

I love living in North Carolina and experiencing four distinct seasons. Each brings its own beauty—even winter, with its quiet, crisp days and the rare snowfall, brings me joy.
In January, as a massive storm approached North Carolina, I watched forecasts closely. People everywhere prepared, packing stores and emptying shelves of essentials. We were determined to be ready.

It made me reflect on the storms we can’t predict: a layoff, illness, or unexpected news. These often leave us feeling unprepared and uncertain how to move forward.
Though we get no warnings for life’s storms, we can prepare by nurturing our relationship with God—not out of fear, but love. Fear isn’t a God-honoring motivator.
Preparation is about trust, not control.
Resilience and peace grow from faith nurtured over time. When storms come, what we’re rooted in matters.
God,
Help us grow a steady faith and become more aware of Your presence. Strengthen our resilience as we place our trust in You.
Amen.
Reflections
When life’s storms hit, what emotions stir in you, and how do you respond?
What is one thing you can do this week to intentionally tend to your relationship with God?
“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in Him, rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.” — Colossians 2:6-7

EJC Story Series are Scripture-based experiences for women who want to engage with God and the Bible in ways that feel fresh, relatable, and transformative. Designed to be flexible and self-paced, they invite you to slow down, step into the story, and encounter God beyond surface-level reading. It’s not another checklist, but a space to linger, reflect, and grow.
Our first Story Series brings to life the powerful story of Jesus interrupting Peter’s ordinary life and inviting him into one that is far greater than anything he could imagine. Whether this story is familiar or completely new, this series is designed to help you see it with fresh eyes. We trust that God will meet you in this experience and shape it in a way that is uniquely yours.
