Not Done Yet.

Updated: 3 days ago

Fatigue was setting in when the gym trainer called for a few more reps. “Your mind will stop before your body will!” she cheered. It was like she could hear my internal dialogue begging me to quit, telling me I had nothing left to give. But I put her encouragement to the test and turned my "I'm done" into "Yes, I can". Sure enough, my body's capacity proved my mindset had been limited.

How often is this wisdom true in our lives, beyond fitness? How many times do we quit internally before we’re actually out of strength? How often does fear, doubt, or a story we’re telling ourselves pull the plug while God is calling for more from us?

  • We open the Bible but stop after a few verses because, “I don’t have time to really get into this right now,” even though we’ve spent ten minutes mindlessly scrolling our phones.

  • We feel the nudge to rest, but override it with productivity.

  • We talk ourselves out of opportunities before we ever apply, speak up, or raise our hand.

  • We discredit our gifts because we’re comparing ourselves to others who are further along.

Scripture* reminds us that transformation begins in the mind — not by trying harder, but by thinking truer. God knows our beliefs shape our behavior, our fears shape our limits, and the stories we tell ourselves quietly determine how far we’re willing to go.

God doesn’t call us beyond our capacity, but He calls us beyond our assumptions about it. He meets us right where we are, in our weakness, fatigue, and doubt. And then, He begins to expand what we’re capable of carrying. Not through pressure or perfection, but through trust.

With God, we are often capable of far more than we think, especially when we stop relying solely on our own strength and start trusting His.

Reflections

  1. What thought are you repeating that has become a limiting belief about your capacity?

  2. Where is God asking you to take just one more faithful step forward?
