Healing from Trauma

There are some stories we tell easily. And then there are the ones we'd rather keep tucked away. This week's podcast episode—where I was a guest—falls into the second category.
When I sat down for the conversation, I knew we'd be talking about childhood trauma and my journey of healing and forgiveness. What I didn't anticipate was how raw and exposed I would feel afterward. In fact, when the recording ended, I seriously considered asking that it never be released.

But healing has a way of inviting our stories out of hiding.
It begins when we stop pretending we're unaffected by what wounded us and start inviting God into those places instead.
As I wrestled with whether to share such a personal part of my story, I kept coming back to one thought:
If my honesty helps even one woman discover another layer of healing, take one more step toward freedom, or believe that forgiveness is possible, then it will be worth it.
Because healing is rarely a single moment. More often, it's a journey of uncovering, surrendering, grieving, and learning to trust God with the places we'd rather avoid.
And sometimes, the very thing we're tempted to hide becomes the doorway through which God brings hope to someone else.
Maybe that's true for you, too. Perhaps there's a wound you've worked hard to move past. A story you've convinced yourself no longer matters. A place where healing feels unfinished.
If so, take heart. God’s grace is able to reach even the deepest wounds. He is here to meet you right where you are and gently reveal the next layer of healing that awaits you.
This conversation was one of the hardest I've ever had, but my prayer is that it reminds you that freedom is possible, healing is often layered, and God's redeeming work is never finished.
I'd love for you to listen.
Reflections
Is there a part of your story that you've been tempted to keep hidden because it feels too painful, too messy, or too vulnerable?
What would it look like to place your hand in God’s this week and take another look at an old wound?
